What is the children and young people offer?

In June 2009 Gaynor Nash started in post as regional 2012 children and young people co-ordinator.

This post is managed by Leicestershire County Council and funded by the nine county and unitary authorities in the region. It is an example of key stakeholders working together to support a key activity area for the East Midlands strategy for the 2012 Games.

Gaynor's key areas of work are:

  • increased participation in sport and physical activity
    by children and young people
  • volunteering by children and young people
  • educational opportunities provided by London 2012
  • cultural activities for and involving children and young people
  • internationalism
