The Cultural Olympiad in the East Midlands
The London 2012 Cultural Olympiad in the East Midlands will run from March to October 2012. The programme takes the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games as its inspiration to create once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for audiences and communities right here on our doorstep.
The Cultural Olympiad is the coming together of several different programmes that have been developed over the past four years including Igniting Ambition, Artists Taking the Lead, Unlimited, Creative Innovation, Inspire, and now Festival 2012.

Latest news - East Midlands to play major role in London 2012 Festival
The programme for the London 2012 Festival was announced today with outstanding events in the East Midlands amongst the Festival’s highlights.

Across the East Midlands there will be many world-class events taking place in unusual spaces, from ‘AfterGold’ featuring Atelier Bow Wow’s series of structures built of straw bales that will line the route of the Torch Relay at Loughborough University, and ‘Splash Dance Weekend’, a Big Dance production that features choreography inspired by Olympic Water Sports and Team GB rowers at the National Watersports Centre in Nottingham.
