Aftergold
June – July 2012, across Loughborough and Leicestershire
AfterGold is Radar’s ambitious season of new commissions to celebrate the presence of the Japanese Olympic team at Loughborough University.
Featuring internationally renowned Japanese artists, AfterGold considers what we do when we have supposedly won at life. Whether we're chasing gold medals or gold coins – there comes a point where we have achieved all that we can competitively and our focus shifts beyond sporting or commercial success.
Each of the artists in the programme has been invited to reflect upon this, contributing towards a re-imagining of our environment and our place within it. The result is a series of unique interventions sited across Loughborough and Leicestershire, including sculptural works, installations and live events.
There will also be a Matsuri, a one day festival featuring aspects of traditional and contemporary Japanese culture in Queen’s Park, Loughborough on Bank Holiday Monday 4 June.
