The Great Shakespearean Workout joined the Inspire Programme in late 2009.
The Great Shakespearean Workout 2010 is an exciting new way of exploring Troilus & Cressida Shakespeare's only play to feature events and figures from the mythology of Ancient Greece the birthplace of the Olympic Games.
The beat of Shakespeare's poetry provides the pulse for fun aerobic based exercise while his amazing language vibrant characters & fascinating stories are explored.

Go Boccia
Go Boccia uses the magic of 2012 to encourage more young disabled people to play sport and improve the provision of positive sports activities for disabled young people aged between 11 and 24 years in Derbyshire.
Five community Boccia groups have been set up where there was previously no provision, this has enabled disabled young people to access regular sporting opportunities in their spare time, empowering them to become the best Boccia player they can be, developing their confidence, self esteem and skills in teamwork.

Sustainability in Event management
Derby became the first university in the East Midlands to receive the Inspire Mark for one of their Events Management courses.
The BS8901 Events Management standard is aimed at people who work in venues, as festival organisers and events managers. Delegates will discover how to integrate economic, social and environmental responsibilities seamlessly into mainstream business and project management for the event industry.

Derbyshire Village Games
Derbyshire Village Games takes sport and physical activity to local community centres, halls, parks and green spaces. All activities will be developed in partnership with local village groups such as sports associations, schools and community groups, and these groups will be a key driver in developing activities that are in demand by individual villages.
The project will be the catalyst to a programme of club development, coach development and volunteer recruitment as well as enhancing village identity.

Erewash Sports Academy Award
The Award is made up of a variety of qualifications, volunteering and physical activity opportunities which combined will give young people the opportunity to take their first steps in sports leadership as well as encouraging them to be more physically active.
All participants on the programme will achieve at least four qualifications including; Sports Leaders level 1 or 2, NGB Young Organisers/Officials awards, and first aid certificates. Completion of all qualifications entitles the participants to the Erewash Sports Academy Award.

Beacon Art Project/Profusion
An exhibition of commissioned and existing artworks by 13 acclaimed international artists taking place within the house and grounds of Calke Abbey.
Confirmed artists include: Anna Barham, Karla Black, Marcel Broodthaers, Lucy Clout, Clem Crosby, Jimmie Durham, Mark Fairnington, Doug Fishbone, Martino Gamper, Roger Hiorns, John Plowman, Daniel Silver, Harald Smykla and Jack Strange. A programme of performances, screenings and events will be presented every weekend during the exhibition.

Bright in the Corner Where You Are
A vibrant dance theatre performance inspired by an artistic exchange between artists and young people from Derbyshire and Mamelodi, South Africa.
The performance will tour to the Wirksworth Festival and Derby Feste in September 2010.

Derby Festival of Light
Derby will celebrate its unique diversity through its celebration of Eid, Diwali, Bonfire Night and Christmas with a lantern procession and music and dance celebration.
Young people will be at the heart of the Festival of Light celebrations through workshops in lantern making, dance and world percussion, facilitated by international artists who will perform for the spectacular finale.
Inspire & Respect
Inspire & Respect is led by Derby City Council and delivered in partnership with the School Sports Partnerships, County FA and Derby County in the Community.
The project introduces a series of activities that will increase participation in football and physical activity.
These activities are varied, and focus around four main themes: participation, performance / excellence, social inclusion and coach education / leadership. The activities look to engage with what is often considered ‘hard to reach groups’ inspiring them to be more active as-well as at the same time ensuring that their participation embraces the Olympic values and the Football Associations initiative of Respect.
Derby City Sportsability Initiative
This initiative is a partnership of several agencies working together to encourage children and young people to overcome their disabilities and take part in sport and physical activity.
Starting in September 2010 the initiative will provide five sessions a week at various locations across the city. At these sessions young people u25 will have the opportunity to try new sports that are adapted to their needs in a safe and supportive environment. Qualified coaches will deliver a variety of sports including boccia, boxing, cricket, athletics, new age kurling, sitting volleyball and other multi-skills.
Festival of Volunteering
The Festival of Volunteering removes barriers to access sport and recreational facilities by bringing together in one free community event a variety of opportunities for people of ages.
The aim of the festival of volunteering is to promote and raise awareness of volunteering and encourage involvement in sport amongst University students and also members of the public. Although the focus for 2011 is on sport the festival gives over 50 local, national and international not for profit organisations including community sports organisations the opportunity to promote their volunteering opportunities.
Sustainability & Social Responsibility Conference
The Festival is spurred on by the sustainability intentions of London 2012, and the heightened profile of Sustainability that the Games have generated.
The overall purpose of the Student Festival on Sustainability and Social Responsibility is to raise the importance of sustainability issues in the University as well as open debates as to how Education for Sustainability and social responsibility can be incorporated into the curricula, student experience and university policies.
The Movement
The movement programme is an innovative programme of sport, physical activity and dance. Informed by young people for young people the project’s sole aim is to increase participation amongst 11-16 year old inactive girls and boys by 5% each year.
The project also aims to increase the target market’s understanding of healthy lifestyle choices to influence positive behaviour change.The project uses the message of the Games and role models to inspire sedentary individuals from some of the most under represented communities in Derby to improve self esteem and confidence, promoting lifelong participation in sport.
Safer Communities through Sport
The SCTS project offers free multi-sports sessions to young people on evenings and weekends at local parks, indoor sports venues and multi-use-games-areas in some of the districts most deprived communities.
These sessions will be communicated through schools, youth clubs, local sports clubs and within communities via the Safer Neighbourhood Teams.
The project has 2 key aims, and these are to use the power of the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games to a) Increase participation in all sports, and b) Reduce youth crime, in so doing encouraging respect for one self and also for the local community.
