Active Ashfield Games
Following in the footsteps of the 2010 Active Ashfield Games the project provides a community games for all ages and abilities, encompassing competitions for the workplace, adults with disabilities, youth service and Surestart (0-5) family activities.
The project has also introduced a coaching phase in partnership with local clubs and competitive heats took place in all four towns in the district to engage with as many people as possible.
The Active Ashfield Games was launched at the adi-zone, Sutton Lawn, Suton-in-Ashfield on the 2nd July 2011.

Disability Inclusion Support
The project uses 2012 as a catalyst to enthuse new opportunities for disabled young people at the grass roots both within mainstream settings and also within disability specific clubs.
The project employs a team of dedicated Inclusion Support Buddies to work with disabled young people aged 8-19 with physical, learning and sensory impairments within Nottingham City approx 50-75 per year. The Support Buddies will provide a one to one support role to help overcome the barriers and fears to participation that many young people with disabilities experience, the Buddies will also use the inspiration of 2012 to support participants in developing confidence, determination and sporting excellence.

Women's Sports Leadership Programme
A unique programme led by Nottingham City Council and the Partnership Council that will encourage, train and support more women and girls in becoming sport and physical activity leaders within their local community. Whilst the programme is available to all women 14+ there is a particular focus on engaging women from under represented BME groups in the city due to the low level of participation that exists.
The programme will consist of an annual calendar of sports leadership training courses and supported practical placements in existing community/voluntary clubs and groups over a 12 month period.

Activate Bassetlaw
The Activate Bassetlaw Project represents a partnership between Bassetlaw District Council, Nottinghamshire Healthy Schools, and Bassetlaw Sport and Physical Activity Partnership.
The project is a district wide challenge that will engage with the whole community (all ages and abilities) and encourage increased levels of physical activity. This will be achieved through the use of a resource pack that includes an Activity wheel that allocates points to an individual for the amount of time spent participating in sport or physical activity.

Family Skate Plus
The project lead by Nottingham City Council and backed by Torvill and Dean is a ten week programme that will engage 30 families in a structured ice skating and educational family learning programme.
This programme gives participants the opportunity to receive coaching from Team GB Olympians from Vancouver and Lake Placid, as well as Professional Ice Hockey Players from the Nottingham Panthers. The programme also gives families an educational experience and covers the skills and technique of a variety of ice sports.

Once in a Lifetime
This project led by Nottingham City Council – Education Improvement Partnership (City South EIP) runs from September 2010 until summer term 2012 and will give 3000 children and young people in the EIP the chance to participate in the Olympic experience.
The project does this through 4 strands: Get Inspired, Friends and Neighbours, The Pursuit of Excellence, and the River.
Each strand gives the children the opportunity to learn from the Olympic and Paralympic values, and provides the children with moments of individual challenge and endeavour.
Championing Nottinghamshire Sports Volunteering
This is a new programme being led by both Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council to create opportunities for people in the county to volunteer at sporting events.
The programme aims to use sport events to inspire people to volunteer who have never done so before, and to build a volunteer legacy in the city and county. Volunteers who sign up for the project will be placed on a database and will receive regular information about the volunteer opportunities that are available.

Nottinghamshire Talented Athlete Mentoring Programme
The Nottinghamshire Talented Athlete Mentoring Scheme is a sports mentoring project for potential 2012 athletes using mentors who are former Olympians and Paralympians and athletes that have competed at the highest level.
The Olympians/high performance athletes will be given comprehensive mentoring training and support from Sport Nottinghamshire. They will then meet with the potential 2012 athletes on a monthly basis to provide goal setting, advice and support.

People in the Parks
“People in the Parks” represents a new collaboration between Parks and Services and the Leisure and Culture directorates of Mansfield District Council.
The aim of the project is to use the Olympics to inspire people who are less active to become more physically active, reflecting the Paralympic values of Courage and Determination. The project also promotes sustainability by utilising open spaces in the hearts of communities, encouraging respect for one self and equally for the environment.

Talented Coaches Programme
This project aims to improve medal table performance by creating and developing elite coaches, thus improving the opportunities and experience of upcoming athletes. “Behind every great athlete is a great coach.”
The project will individually develop 10-11 identified talented volunteer coaches working in Nottinghamshire, within any sport. Successful candidates will be supported over a 12 month period to develop knowledge, experience and skills specific to their current roles and in support of future coaching goals. This includes a core programme of monthly education and training, an individually designed package of support and an identified mentor.

Night of Festivals
A free festival showcasing exciting, interactive art installations, digital art projections, live music and carnival and street arts from many different Latin American countries and cultures.
Night of Festivals is a flagship ArtReach project celebrating the bicentenary of Latin American independence and the centenary of the Mexican Revolution.

Street Racing 2010
The Street Racing Programme is designed to attract new participants into athletics; the event in the Market Square provides an opportunity to engage with hundreds of people and allow them to try the sport in a more accessible environment.
However the programme has much wider roots and originates from a partnership with Nottinghamshire Police to address anti-social behaviour and to create a positive influence in some of Nottingham’s communities.
The market square event took place for the first time on September 11 2010
All participants who took part in a race have been invited to an open day at Nottingham Athletic Club to encourage regular participation in sport and integration into a club environment.

SNC Community Volunteering Programme
The Community Sport Volunteering Programme recruits, introduces, mentors and supports, student volunteers to equip them with the necessary skills to lead community and school activity.
The CSV programme can be assessed free of charge by all students, and offers a range of opportunities both practical and skills based.
- Students can support after school provision in local primary schools and community clubs
- Sports specific NGB lead training courses
- Training packages around club development and sports leadership
SNC/Notts FA Disability Football Programme
Developed and delivered in partnership with South Nottingham College, Nottinghamshire FA have coordinated a programme of Disability Football that will provide College students who are undertaking leadership and coaching courses with practical experience in the area of disability sport.
The project will increase participation amongst Special School Students which in turn may improve future medal table performance and representation at Paralympics. It will also give students the opportunity to up skill and work with groups of players whose needs they may not have come across before.
Learn to Play
Learn How to Play is a new sport initiative led by Nottingham City Council that aims to use the inspiration of 2012 to reduce the 16+ drop off in sports participation as well as increasing N18 adult participation in sport.
Participants will have the chance to try a new sport or return to sport they used to play for just 50p a session for an 8 week period. The programme will see a range of sports coaching courses delivered 3 times per year that will be reflective of the sporting seasons i.e. the summer 8 week block will focus on sports such as cricket and golf, with the winter 8 weeks focusing on netball and hockey.
Balls to Poverty
The Balls to Poverty- Nottingham City project is a volunteering project that aims to “Inspire communities through young role models”
The project will begin in January 2011 and continue throughout the academic year, student volunteers from South Nottingham College will visit local primary schools in areas where gangs are known to be active, to deliver sport coaching sessions with tutorials and school assemblies. These sessions are led by volunteers and seek to address gang culture and low aspirations which are prevalent within the city and county’s deprived communities, references will be made to the International visits made by the Charity to illustrate that issues faced in Nottingham City are not unique, but each of us has a part to play in resolving them.
Activate Ashfield
Activate Ashfield is a wide programme of sport, physical activity and cultural activities based around Ashfields two adiZones in Sutton-in-Ashfield and Hucknall.
Participants of all ages and abilities will experience a variety of both traditional and more extreme activities these will include; slacklining, free running, bush craft, climbing, dance, golf, racketball, sporting challenges and art and music experiences all of which will focus on the Olympic and Paralympic values as they provide the opportunity for people of all ages to engage in new activities, fostering friendship and promoting courage.
Learning Legacies
On Friday the 10th June 2011, the learning legacies event will invite the general public and local school pupils to take part in a series of activities, workshops and lectures.
Wheelchair rugby and basketball sessions will give participants the unique opportunity to experience Paralympic sport, while the workshops and lectures will cover a variety of issues, such as female participants in sport; the language of legacy and the social impact of the Olympic Games; what the Olympic and Paralympic Games mean for school sport, and sports law and leagal aspects of the Games.

CARE
The project will support a targeted group of approximately 15 Young People in Care (aged 13 – 16 years old) to achieve an accredited qualification in Sports Leadership through weekly sessions, as well as supporting them with opportunities to volunteer and practice their skills alongside experienced Coaches.
Young people will be take part in weekly after school activity sessions at a central venue, where they will work towards achieving awards. The project will help to raise the aspirations and personal expectations of Young People in Care; by training them to become young leaders and acquire the skills and values that come with this; such as confidence, responsibility for self and others, respect, teamwork, communication and achieving their goals.
Any-Body Month
Any-Body Month is a series of disability awareness sports event run by the University of Nottingham for “any-body” to take part in.
Participants will be provided with the opportunity to try different sports inspired by the London 2012 Paralympics, including wheelchair rugby, judo and wheelchair tennis. The main aim of this project is to raise awareness of the barriers facing disabled people in sport by providing participants from the university and also the local community with a greater understanding and respect of what it takes to compete as a disabled athlete
