Background

The regional consultation exercise highlighted the appetite in the region for establishing major events in the region that incorporate elite performance but also encourage the region’s population to participate. The benefits of hosting events are being considered across all of our key activity areas alongside the opportunities for cross partnership working. Therefore events are being considered as an embedded theme within the regional structure.

East Midlands Strategy

We have recently completed a consultation exercise to develop a region wide strategy for maximising the benefits of the Games. We have thoroughly reviewed the comprehensive feedback received and this forms the basis of the East Midlands Strategy for the 2012 Games.
