Children and Young People Action Plan

Initial ideas to ensure children and young people benefit from the 2012 Games have been released for consultation. Included in the consultation document are all the views captured during round table discussions at the seminar. Views are currently being sought on the ideas to help shape an action plan for the Children and Young People theme of the East Midlands Strategy for the 2012 Games. ODA Transport Briefing

Handover Ceremonies

Plans are being developed to mark the Handover from Beijing to London on 24 August 2008. Local Authorities will be written to in May giving the latest information on how they will be able to get involved in the celebration and a resource pack is being produced by London 2012. London 2012 Education Programme

Seven Businesses shortlisted for Eton Manor Design contract

The Olympic Delivery Authority has announced that seven businesses have been shortlisted to design a range of facilities on the site of the former community sports centre at Eton Manor. During the Olympic Games the site will host temporary training facilities for gymnastics and the aquatic sports whilst during the Paralympics it will host Paralympic Archery and Wheelchair tennis. East Midlands Businesses urged to help deliver 2012 Games

The Melton Mowbray event coincided with the revealing of the design for the Olympic Stadium in London. Speaking at the 2012 Construction Commitments conference Rob Knight of the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) urged East Midlands businesses to join them in delivering the infrastructure for the Games. He announced that a new service to help businesses access supply chain opportunities is to be launched in January 2008. CompeteFor is an electronic brokerage service which allows main contractors to advertise sub-contracts and below whilst suppliers will be able to upload the services and products they can deliver.

Jeff Moore, Chief Executive of emda, said: "The London 2012 Games presents lots of opportunities for businesses in the region. The new Olympic stadium is a great example of the iconic buildings which will be created and become important landmarks for sport in the UK."

Panasonic extends worldwide sponsorship of Olympic Games

Panasonic has extended its sponsorship of the Olympic Games from 2009 to 2016, covering the London 2012 Games.

The agreement was signed with International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge in London. It continues Panasonic's involvement as the official Worldwide Olympic Partner in the Audio and Video Equipment product category.

Panasonic will also have global marketing rights for the Beijing 2008, Vancouver 2010, London 2012, Sochi 2014 and the 2016 Olympic Games, as well as for the 205 individual National Olympic Committees and their Olympic teams.

The latest plans are the result of months of consultation with 4,000 cultural sector representatives from the around the UK.
