Sporting Legacy

Pre Games Training Camps     
29 official Pre Games Training Camps in the region, of which 12 are also registered to support Paralympic sports

2 Memorandums of Understanding signed with National Olympic Committees (Team GB and Japan) to host Pre Games Training Camps at Loughborough University

Major events
The region support 2 major cycling events, the East Midlands Cicle Classic and the Lincoln Grand Prix

The FA Women’s Cup Final has been hosted in the East Midlands for the last 4 years.

6 of the best hockey teams in the world took part in the Women's Champions Trophy in Nottingham in July 2010

Participation
emda has supported a number of activities inspired by major sporting events, including 130 girls taking part in a football festival in Derby, as part of the 2009 FA Women’s Cup Final.

31 sporting projects have been awarded the Inspire mark

5 adizones, outdoor multi sports zones in the shape of the London 2012 logo, have been built in the region

Social Legacy

Cultural Olympiad
Six
showcase events are to take place between 2008 and 2011, as part of the region’s Cultural Olympiad programme, Igniting Ambition.

2 Live Sites in the region, installed in Derby and Leicester.

60 Open Weekend events held across the region.

Education
824 schools and colleges in the East Midlands are registered for Get Set, of which 16 are Get Set Network members.

12 Nottinghamshire schools have made links with schools in Brazil via the International Inspiration programme

Inspire
72 projects in the region have been awarded the Inspire mark

Economic Legacy

Business
Over 150 contracts won by East Midlands businesses to supply the Games.

Visitor Economy

10 images commissioned by East Midlands Tourism and inspired by the 2012 Games, depicting regional sportspeople set in key tourism attractions.

Skills
£453,000 of funding from the European Social Fund will provide 300 places for people in the region to improve their skills, via Personal Best.
